Purpose Designed for Purpose Built

Dust Pollution SystemsDust Pollution Systems (DPS) have recently installed a dust extraction system at Purpose Built Limited. ISO 9002 registered Purpose Built, is a leading manufacturer of timber frame buildings, roof trusses and windows.

The company uses hard and soft woods and is the only company to produce constructional components and joinery in one location with a turnover in excess of £8 million. The principal reasons behind the need to install a new extraction system were that, the existing equipment was no longer economically viable and was incompatible with the new machinery that was to be used. There was also an overriding need to meet current and future factory and environmental regulations.

DPS was suggested to Purpose Built by a Weinig (UK) Limited area engineer who had been impressed with DPS in other companies were their machinery had been installed, although other suppliers had been assessed. wpe8.jpg (10099 bytes) Since its installation Purpose Built feels that their new dust extraction system has worked extremely well. The level of dust within the factory has been significantly reduced to produce a better working environment. There has been an additional bonus as the improved collection of dust and wood waste has enabled Purpose Built to generate a small but additional revenue from the sale of sawdust. Purpose Built was especially impressed with the ease of operating the system, its performance and its neatness.

This configuration provides flexibility
At Purpose Built the chain filter serves two 40 hp fan sets. This configuration provides flexibility by enabling one or both fans to be used so that at week-ends or at other periods of lower activity, the energy consumption of the plant can be reduced to by using only one set thereby decreasing operation costs.

DPS chain filters are designed to meet the needs of medium and large manufacturers of joinery and building systems, with an emphasis on easy expansion to cater for future growth.

They handle large volumes of waste material produced by the high throughput of modern woodworking equipment. These filters use gravity separation, top inlet sections and have a large hopper to ensure excellent separation for maximum filter life Each bank of filters is cleaned automatically by a regeneration fan, either on shut-down, or continuously, to ensure 100% efficiency. The modular construction of DPS chain filters means that they can be easily expanded to meet increased throughput.

In addition to chain filters, DPS also design, manufacture and install a wide range of alternative systems, which include cabinet filters for fine dust produced when machining MDF, through flow filters where external space is limited, rotary valve filters for discharging waste into silos and bag units, for small to medium requirements.
