Manor close the door on Dust

Dust Pollution Systems (DPS), is noted for the reliability, flexibility and high quality build of its woodwaste handling and extraction systems, together with a reputation for its attention to detail in relation to design, performance and installation. As a result of this market leading profile DPS were chosen by Manor Doors Limited to design and install a waste handling system when they moved into new premises in January this year.

Dust Pollution SystemsManor Doors, one of the UK's leading manufacturers of bespoke doors, produced 30,000 units in 1999, using hardwood, softwood and particleboard. The main reason for upgrading its woodwaste handling system stated by Manor Doors was to provide the best possible working conditions at its new premises by eliminating dust pollution throughout its site. Additionally, the company also wished to have a clean and tidy factory to enhance best practice and to improve quality.

These and other benefits were achieved by the installation of an efficient woodwaste system by DPS. All waste material is extracted to an exterior separation plant, which in the words of Manor Doors, ‘Has performed entirely to expectations, resulting in a virtually dust-free factory by virtue of the excellent filter system used by DPS.’ The reasons why DPS were chosen, although the capabilities of other competitors were assessed, were based on its reputation, value for money, installation expertise and the recommendations to Manor Doors by other satisfied DPS customers.

Minimised Production Losses
Before Christmas 1999, DPS installed the exterior filtration system at Manor Doors' new factory. As each machine was transferred, during a phased relocation programme, it was connected to the previously installed woodwaste extraction plant. This procedure minimised production losses enabling Manor Doors to reduce their overall investment cost.

The DPS system installed at Manor Doors consists of three modular chain filters with a total extraction rate of 15,000cfm and allows for future expansion simply by adding new filter units. The system is installed with full return air and the option to discharge to the atmosphere during the summer months. This maintains comfortable working conditions throughout the year and reduces the energy costs of environment control. DPS installed two fan sets so that the system, connected to over 22 machines, can be run to suit full or part loading. A rail-mounted skip was also supplied with three apertures, so that it is almost fully filled and means that collection costs from the factory are minimised.
